newegg open box

Anyone have any experience with newegg open box motherboards? Is it more likely that i'd have an issue? And would the manufacturer warranty be invalidated?

Thanks for your help

also, Kinda random, but what are your thoguhts about ecs? I've heard some bad things about them, but is it just with overclocking or overall quality?

If you tried searching for "open box", you'll see a bunch of threads about it. Make sure you make it search through the "title and summary" only. Otherwise, you'll get a bunch of non-relevant threads.

ECS is a budget board. Overall quality is not that great (I have one) and it's really only meant for combos at Fry's.

Msi and abit will honor open box warranties. But ecs, pcchips, and biostar may not, and charge you a hefty fee just for shipping it to them. I also suggest you place an rma the minute you receive your "open box" motherboard, in case you have any problems. Generally, newegg will give you up to 30 days to ship it back once you put in the rma. And be aware that most won't come with any accessories, including the backplate for the case.

I dont think Asus offers open box warranty. I tried to send my motherboard back but they said they dont guarantee open box titled items from third parties such as best buy etc...

Also search for refurb, as many refer to them as that instead of the new moniker of open box.
