Sparkle 256 Meg Passively Cooled 6600

This should be a great card for vista desktops, modest gaming, or just some random box you need a PCIe card for that won't rob memory from the system.

Thoughts? Thinking about picking up a couple to defray shipping expenses (which seem a bit high to me given this has to weigh nothing)...

I had the gigabyte version of this but it had almost the same cooler. I went through 3 RMAs because it kept burning up during 3d games. They finally sent me an X800XT.

Its a nice card though if you strap a fan to it, but otherwise the 6600s were too hot for most passive coolers.

It appears Gigabyte did.

hmm... I ran a passively cooled gigabyte for over a year, oc'd it, and it's still running strong in a friends PC....

I believe that the gigabyte 6600"s also ran their cores much faster, more like 400 mhz vs 300 mhz on this guy.

None the less, there is an actively cooled one for the same price.

Ya, the gigabyte was run at 400MHz on the core. Probably just my bad luck....

Brings back memories though.

Mine are good - I think yours are a bit not-so-good 😛

Thx. I'm in. I used a Gigabyte 6600 AGP card in a shuttle box and it was a champ. Almost no real circulation, and I was even able to get some overclocking out of it.

This will go in a Dell 5100, which will put the heatsink right-side up and directly in the case cooling path. So I think it will be a good solution.
