Hey... I could set up a newegg reshipment center, since I live in a non-tax state.

would you all pay me exhorbitant fees just to avoid tax?

I'm near enough to the CA Newegg to drive. They wouldn't allow will-call pickup -- all orders had to be shipped. I pick up at MWave sometimes, but they charge $5 extra for will-call (the "handling" part of S&H!), so it's worth it only on larger or rush orders.

Newegg troubles

UPDATE: Just recieved an e-mail about my RMA from newegg after 3 e-mails and a phone call and a week of no replies.

Interestingly enough I also got another automated e-mail from them saying that they had just recieved my RMA dated today the 15th of september 2003. However, I got another one a week ago saying the same thing(Which I know was accurate because my UPS tracking showed as delivered). I'm beggining to wonder if it is perhaps growing pains? regardless it is still a problem.

Another note: The e-mail I recieved was polite and to the point, but not friendly. It made no mention of my previous correspondence (which was inlcuded in the e-mail I sent them and there in the reply from newegg) and there was no apology or explanation for what happened. That's unacceptable to me but I am done sending them e-mails about it, because they don't seem to do any goo. Now I will just wait and see what happens.

I hope that everyone else will start having their issues resolved soon as well. Of course, I still have yet to actually recieve my parts, they have not been shipped yet, I will update as to their condition when they get here.

I would have appreciated an apology for the delay or at least an explanation. Perhaps there is a problem in the RMA department, but on top of that they might want to retrain their customer service reps in being a little nicer in e-mail when there was a problem. The fact that I even HAD a problem was totally ignored by the customer service rep.

To be fair when I ordered and had a problem the customer service representative I spoke with was very polite and helpful, just as everyone is used to.

Where did you hear this? I like Dell but wary of what happens when a giant takes over a small respected outfit.

well, since googlegear is now zipflyzoom, maybe newegg will become dellegg?

On a side note for those of your from NY, they do not charge tax for NY'ers. I just ordered a bunch of stuff that ended up getting shipped from NJ and did not have to pay any tax. So NY'ers can rest easy.

damn, no wonder my order came from Edison, NJ and not from Cali.

Man, I'm very close to edison. I ask again, does newegg allow you to pick orders up in person from their warehouse?

Yeah, I work pretty close to Ediason as well, would be nice if I could stop there on way home to pick up my stuff 🙂

hmmm, I wonder where they are in edison. it's gotta be some place close to the TP. Now if we can pick up stuff then it all comes down to tax v shipping...

Wow, now that would be a hot deal... 😀
Forget shipping... I'll drive down there and pick it up myself. Does Newegg have will-call?

Well, I'm in NYC, and I just ordered an NEC1300a from them, and it shipped from Cali. Go figure, huh? Oh yeah, it shipped today, about 3 hours after I ordered it, and the estimated arrival date? 9/22. Ah well.....

Yea, I really like FedEx, they actually deliver their stuff early! Yea it sucks to pay tax, but at least you get your stuff faster, or maybe even will call.

It's only 15% sales tax up here! Ordering from another province still means the feds get 7%.

But health care is pretty good, even if they still have a long ways to go in making it efficient.

=P

I agree with all my PHilly people in here. I ALWAYS have to wait FOREVER to get FedEx/UPS shipments from California, stuff I would order on a Tuesday, would ship Wednesday and get here Monday . So.....I order something and it gets here next day. SAME day if shipped before 10AM or so.

But there ARE some issues with living so close to Jersey, like the smell.

And don't lie. Jersey DOES smell. OR, to quote my family who lives there "Jersey doesn't smell....it's just everywhere else doesn't."

There's a joke here, about a NY Dump and Jersey and chargin you $3 to get out....but we're not gonna go there =P
