What a terrible terrible change, I think this knocks Newegg from it's perch at the top of my shopping list....
We apologize for the confusion. The shipping costs on our site were removed as we have a new system where the correct weight of the order is totaled in instead of the added shipping cost from each item. This gives you the lowest shipping cost possible. To view the shipping, simply add the item to your shopping cart and enter your zip code to view that information.

I guess you can take that for face value. From a business perspective I can see a couple possibilities on why they did this:
1. They did alpha/beta testing on the website, where for a smaller random sample of visitors they offered without shipping. This may have yielded a higher purchase success rate than with the shipping costs identified. Then they applied this principle to the entire site.
2. They were getting inaccurate and volatile per item shipping costs and it was adversely affecting sales.
Or could be combination of both.

In any case, too bad for them. I intend to check other retailers first until they fix it.
