newegg LCD refurb's?

I'm looking at buying a refurb LCD on newegg, but I'm wondering if it may have been refurb'ed due to dead pixels. Would newegg resell a returned LCD (due to dead pixels) as a refurb item?
 
I don't think Newegg checks if refurbs even work, I've read stories from many people about refurb stuff from them arriving DOA. Anyway, why else would someone return an LCD? There's an old saying that goes 'If it looks too good to be true.. it probably is'..
 
My brother just went through hell with newegg, and I can honestly not recommend them ever again. I have for years, and now will never use them or recommend them again. They shipped him a DOA LCD monitor, which they tried to set up as a repair. It was troubleshot by Envision and they determined that it was bad. Newegg still wants to try it as a repair, and my brother shipped it in. They signed for it but still havent shipped him the replacement (it's been 3 weeks). I would try ZipZoomFly to be honest.
