Newegg is not all that

Conky

Lifer
I ordered some RAM from their affiliate chiefvalue.com on 12-03-06 and they double shipped my ordered and double billed my account. As soon as I got the email notification of this I jumped online to their customer service chat thing and was told to simply refuse shipment of one of the packages and they would handle the rest.

Refused package was returned on 12-13-06. I called later that week and was told as soon as it got put back into inventory that I would receive a full refund and then all would be good.

Called before Christmas asking what the status was... still waiting for it to be put back into stock. Nada.

Figured, what the heck, it's Christmas and it was probably hectic...

Called a few days after New Years to try to make something happen, talked to a Customer Service person named Crystal and was promised it would be dealt with.

Called back a week or so later and didn't even make it past the customer service goon... told it was "being handled"

Called yet again another week later(I've been distracted taking my dad for cancer treatments) and talked to a CS person who referred me to a "Quality care" person. This person assured me it would be handled in a timely manner.

A few days later I get a phonecall from a "Quality Care" person who apologizes profusely and tells me it's been dealt with and thankfully it was. A few days later I got the credit.

I was just about to start the chargeback thing with my bank but kept hoping they would do the right thing.

I don't know why it had to be that difficult. Over a month later after they received what should have been a simple return(their mistake BTW) I am still having to deal with it.

Anyway, I guess the point is that the next time you think Newegg is better than any other retailer you might want to think again. I believe they have grown past the point of actually caring whether you have a good experience or not. Luckily there is still zipzoomfly.com and other reputable outfits that are just as happy to take my money and will work with me with simple problems like this(a problem that was entirely their fault).

Anyway, buyer beware. I will think twice before ever ordering from Newegg or Chiefvalue again. 😉

Cliffs: Newegg is not all that

They probably were swamped with returns over the holiday season. I've never had an issue returning things to them, last time I tried to return anything to a computer company (RMA a bad Mobo) over xmas it took an extra month and a half though. Could have just been the season.

Could've been the season but I just got my money back yesterday which is a couple weeks past the season, lol.

True, what I meant though was your order might have been received a month ago, and only got dealt with today because of a huge load of orders they might have had to process 😛

Not the worst story. It at least sounds like their system works like any other companies. Customer service screwups take a couple of times to get noticed before heading to escalations who ends up calling you and apologizing profusely after correcting the problem. Seems like you slipped through the cracks and their safety net caught it.

I had a case destoried in shipping from Newegg. They were always pretty nice but seemed very disorganized. THey finally gave me the credit, after I was told I was getting it 3 times. I was also told that I would be contacted about sending the case back, but I still have never heard anything about that (1.25 years later). I guess I got a free PS out of the deal.

EDIT: I also HATE that they don't offer Fedex ground and they always claim that their UPS service is 3 day, it almost always takes 4 days for me to get anything (if it ships from their CA warehouse).

Yeah, I felt like I had slipped through the cracks. I order a lot of stuff from newegg and not so much from Chiefvalue(but they are part of Newegg) and it really bothered me to be ignored so hard.

I was just about to start a big old "Newegg F***ed me!" thread here and on another forum where they have customer service people posting to get this simple problem handled. I'm actually glad I didn't have to bring it to that ugly level because I would rather be cool about stuff. 😛

I still think they are in fact "all that" at least when grading on a curve.
Me too.
Been using them for many years.
About the worst I've ever had from them wa when they took a little too long getting an RMA processed.
Considering it was right after Xmas I'd say they did a great job overall.
Excellent prices and selection. Many was the time I got stuff the next day even though I hadnt paid for Rush Processing or Next Day Air.
