Haha, nice. A small online computer retailer I used to work for used to "plant" their deals on Slickdeals and fat wallet, and we would just watch the web traffic bring down our servers lol. It's a good way to increase your customer base right before the holiday season.

I should have written that a little clearer. I meant the deals we offered were good for the increase in customers right before the season. The site going down just made us laugh because the web admins would be scrambling all night. I just did RMA and tech support, so it didn't affect me.

The company is still going strong (they actually have 2 websites now out of the same warehouse now). I'd name the site, but I know some of the employees that I worked with are on this forum (or at least they were at the time).

yeah i read about it last night and then forgot until about 20 minutes ago. missed it. even with the coupon they still don't beat microcenter

When I catch someone doing this, I add their site to the censor list here; and report it to sites like stopforumspam, so that it starts coming up automatically censored. You should work for major corporations - too concerned about short term profits to be worried about long term effects.

I'm willing to bet that a majority of the people redeeming the offer are those who bought multiples and are trying to get orders in before NE puts a stop to it, if they aren't already looking for it.

Of the 50k they had to sell, I wonder how many unique customers there actually were.
