newegg has been kinda lean and higher priced lately in their refurb. Today seems like a huge refurb sale.

Yes, they've always had this section. If there's something there & it gets posted here, it's usually "gone in 60 seconds." :)

Picked up an Asus A7N266-VM also. I checked neweggs site today before I checked the AT forums and when I saw all the vid cards had been cleaned out I just knew there had been posts about it in the hot deals forum.

Yes they have always had the refurb section but not always the good deals. Lately they have been kinda shabby so that is what the fuss is about . Thanks guys and for those of you who know 29.00 shipped for a K7S5A is a great price refurb or not.

Picked up a Radeon 8500 64MB (not "le") for $49.00 shipped around 6:00 a.m. this morning (currently using an 8500le newegg refurb which runs great and scores over 9700 in 3DMark2001SE). Price was so low I thought "there's got to be something wrong with this card!". Oh well, guess I'll see.

I've had pretty good luck with newegg refurbs. 2 of the 6 boards I've ordered were a little flakey, but still could be used. The 3 video cards have all been good.

I am interested in some of the DVD-ROM drives, but I am a little reluctant of buying anything "refurbished." I've never bought anything refurbished because I'm afraid it'll break in a couple of months. How can one tell if a refurbished product is any good or worth the price?

most of the Newegg's refurbs are NOT actual refurbs.. more like opened items. (returned items, or items missing part of accessories etc.)

i've had many good experience from Newegg's Refurb items. most of the stuff i bought came as a retail boxed even though it said OEM, Barebones.

i guess it depends on how lucky you are but some of the Newegg's refurbs are so well priced that it's worth try gambling. =)

Hi,

k7s5a for $29 shipped is awesome.

I've never bought refurbs before. How is newegg's RMA policy on these? Do they do Refunds? Exchanges? Do you have to jump through hoops to get them to RMA? Who is responsible for the return shipping? (I am sure some of this in their faq, but I am looking for customer experiences).

From their faq:
Will Newegg.com reimburse me for shipping a defective item back to them?
Customer is solely responsible for shipping any returned product to NewEgg.com.
Newegg is not responsible for manufacturer defects. We are not manufacturers. We are willing to replace a defective item. If a refund is requested instead of a replacement we will charge a 15% restocking fee. However, that 15% restocking fee can be waived as long as a new order for ANY item is placed, after the RMA is issued and before we receive the RMA back in our warehouse. New order? No restocking fee. No new order? 15% restocking fee is incurred.

Thanks,
gard
