so I put a rush order on an order I placed on Tuesday, and wanted UPS 2-day delivery. Well, I got the tracking number for one package out of New Jersey that shipped Tuesday and was scheduled for delivery today (Thursday). The other package hadn't shipped yet. I go to check the tracking numbers today, and it appears both packages are out for delivery today, but the package that hadn't shipped as of Tuesday (coming out of Tennessee), was sent yesterday as Next Day Air Saver. Hmmm. I guess since Newegg done gone and screwed up by not shipping on time, upgraded my shipping to have it there the day it was expected.

Newegg, I knew I liked you 😀
 
That's cool. I get next day delivery for most items with their regular shipping since I'm in New Jersey.
 
newegg rocks, but i never use UPS. what kind of a shipping company just leaves a $500 package sitting near my door? FedEx is much better. but they cost more. damn you UPS!

yeah, $5 shipping kills some low-price items (AC5...). but, it's great when you're ordering something big-ticket, like a CPU or vid card.
 
Ordered an NEC burner this week, delivered overnight via UPS ground. (They are only a 30 minute drive away.)
A few weeks ago, I ordered a Canon digital EOS. It came from Tennesee. During a credit auth. hold on delivery (I forgot to list my work address with my cc), I expressed concern it was coming from TN. I wasn't upset, just mentioned that I didn't know they did that. They upgraded to overnight shipping.
For us locals, I wish they had a B&M. Maybe not a full one. Just a store with some stuff in glass cabinet displays, and with web terminals set throught the store. Browse the site, and buy something there and pick it up at a desk like Circuit City.
I would do anything to avoid Fry's. But most of the time I don't have a choice.
 
i dont shop from newegg anymore for 1 reason - their shipping.

1. default shipping is UPS
2. default shipping is now more expensive than it used to be
3. they charge seperate shipping items for multiple items.

i went to order a mini-sd card and a little usb flash drive for the mini-sd card ... was going to be $10 shipping UPS method for something that weighs probably 5oz.

i went to zipzoomfly and ordered it instead for 2$ shipping via fedex 2day.

they will be getting my business from now on.

I always get pissed at Neweggs shipping rates, then I go to ZipZoomFly or another store with "free" shipping, and realize that 95% of the time, the prices work out to be exactly the same. Then I go to Fry's where I don't have to pay any shipping, but I do have sales tax. I end up getting it anyway, because hey, an optical mouse in the hand is worth 2 in the back of a UPS truck, amirite?

Then I come here and nef. Man, I live a hard life! 😀

Yea the prices may even out or be a little off, but the Fedex shipping over UPS shipping is way worth it to not go to newegg IMO.

Agreed. UPS sucks the snot out a dead camel's nose.
 
I haven't ordered from newegg since they decided it would be a good idea to put a warehouse in TN. ZZF is tax free still, so they get my business.

I realize it is difficult but there must be some way of basing the shipping charge on the weight of the package. If I place an order for 5 items why can't they charge on fee and put all items in the same box?

Would be nice.

I have dealt with NewEgg several times, and in one situation I had a potential customer service nightmare. (ie. any other company would have screwed me completely, I am sure, and I would have had to jump through hoops to get it straight) NewEgg took care of me and made me a completely satisfied customer. I'd buy from them again, but I'm not currently in the market for anything.
 
You do realize you can change it to fedex 3 day from the default ups 3day, and quite a bit of the time, there is no additional shipping charge? And usually if there is, it's only a few more bucks...

umm.... they all do that if no one is home to bring it in the door. where else are they gonna put it? if there is no required signature, then they aren't going to take it back to the distro and try again.
i got home today and had 3 packages sitting on my porch (enclosed porch, btw)... 1 was fedex, two were UPS. that's how it always works, they always leave them there, no matter the value, as the shipping company doesn't really know the value of the product unless its stated in bold colors everywhere on the package (rarely lol)
