It should also be pretty good as far as noise levels go
At 4K, an after-market 290 > 970
At 2560x1440, an after-market 970 and an after-market 290 are tied
At 1080P, an after-market 970 is 6% faster
Most good 970s like MSI Gaming 970 are $340-350 USD. For $90-100 less than an after-market 970 you get nearly identical performance. Perfect as a stop-gap card before 14nm/16nm FinFET cards arrive in 2016.
