Just a heads-up for all of you waiting to get your hands on an "inexpensive" NF4 board...it looks like our friends at NewEgg have the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra back in stock for $129...

Just passing it along,

David

I just saw it to, for you early adopters, have fun. I, however, will be waiting a little. I'm not prepared quite yet to try an unproven board from a company that doesn't have an extremely long history of quality.

I'll second that.

I have had mine for 8-10 days now, and it runs great! Low temps (21 degrees C with my processor OC'd by 200 MHZ). Very fast and stable board... The downside is that the current bios seems to be limiting OC'ing, but I cannot be certain since I have not really had time to sit down and tweak voltages/HTT multiplier, etc to see how high I can go.

Hey Major....I just ordered my VNF4 so now I'm going after other parts. I noticed that you have a 6600GT which is what I'm planning to get. How do you like it, what brand did you get, where at, etc?

I got the gigabyte version (from newegg, where I also got the CPU and (eventually) the motherboard). The card has been DAMN nice (and a very nice metallic shiny heatsink/fan cover too). Runs great, and overclocked decently. A good card to get if you are shopping for one. Not much of a bundle with it, but I care about the card, not the free crap with it!

I have a LeadTek 6600GT PCIE sitting here WAITING for a STUPID AMD PCIE MOTHERBOARD, because no one has them. Anyway, the LeadTek was Anand's top pick - supposedly avoided the compatibility problems some 6600GT cards had, and it uses a pad to stabilize the HSF (other models had problem with the HSF cracking the thermal glue attaching it to the chip).

It's just under $200 at Newegg, if you decide it's what yer looking for...

It was just DUMB luck that I got mine. I had ordered a GA-K8NF-9 from Gigabyte from Mwave (who took my money and then 1 week later told me that the board was recalled (!?!?!?) and then held my money for 2 more weeks). I just happened to go looking for an alternate board on newegg the DAY the VNF4 came out there, and got one about 1/2 an hour before they went out of stock again. I am very happy with it too, I think that I would have been disappointed by the Gigabyte board (IMO) especially since I can now overclock the VNF4 to where I want it!
