I'm hoping that in mid-January or February that the newer releases from AMD drop the prices to more closely match Intels chips, and I'd even bite on the 3 core Phenom for a good rice, maybe even under 170-$200 ?

Thanks for the heads up! Great deal for those of us who don't have to get a new mobo.

$289 for the 9500? LOL, no thx. Although I guess if you've got the mobo for it, it may be better than switching to Q6600. May.

Funny, it seems like just a few months ago we were all happy to pay over $300 for an Opteron 165, lol!

AM2+ but it should work on most AM2 socket boards as well. If these drop below $200 then i'll gladly replace my 4600+ X2. :)

My backup system is running an Opteron 170 @ 3.2ghz on an Asus Crosshair AM2 board (Nvidia 590-SLI chipset) & the CPU support section for the newest BIOS made no mention of support for Phenom.

Frankly I don't really care at the moment but it would be nise to at least know I had the option of moving it to a quad-core.
