Newegg has 7970s in stock

That is a little too much, especially when this card is made to replace 6970 which was about 380 dollars when it was released.

So much for 475.00. Eh, give it some time. Maybe they'll drop a bit.

That price drop(if the rumor is true) was before retailer mark-up, MSRP still is 549$. That was probably done to discourage retailers from artificially limiting supply to drive the price up.

$475 was a dumb rumor anyhow. These things are going to sell out on the first run no matter what, so there's no incentive for anyone to lower their prices. If AMD doesn't capture the profit their partners will, and if their partners don't capture the profit the retailers will.

It is exciting even if I have/had no intention of getting one now. It's gpu@28nm and they are here.

+1.

i am waiting to see the 7950. Already cant wait

Any benefit to the black edition other than a slight factory overclock of the core/memory?
I just made this post in another thread.
I checked the photo's at newegg, that XFX model is using the reference AMD PCB, the numbers on the pci-e connector match the other's. It will be interesting when the bios's get dumped and we will see if XFX, went with a little more voltage for the 1000mhz VS 925 on the other's.

I could probably sell each of my 5870's for $150+...

Must... resist...

*edit - I think I'll wait for that 1325MHz Sapphire version, maybe. Of course than I'll need to upgrade this lowly Phenom... bah!

Different cooler, obviously. Looking at the back side view though, I don't see the bios switch on it. I'd prefer to have a modifiable bios with a safety backup. We already know there's a custom bios out there that ups the O/C limits in CCC.

If you use the top 360 view and zoom, it does appear to have the switch. Which I also can't see from the back though.

What!?? A brand new, market leading card is being sold on opening day at the previously announced recommended retail price?
OMG I'm shocked!😱

Newegg Canada also has stock for the Canadians out there

Nothing on ncix yet though. Soooo tempted, but must hold off for 7970 Lightning 🙁

No idea what to do with my current cards. Do not think I could cover the cost of even one of these with the current 2nd hand value of 3 GTX 480s. I always buy knowing single-gpu cards lose value long term, but these were easily the worst video card purchases ever in terms of depreciation!

Feel really dumb for ordering one last night which is now "back ordered". Lesson learned.

Hate to say it but... told ya. Never bother with those small retailers when it comes to purchases like this.

Anyways, ordered a Gigabyte HD7970 from the egg. Should get it Tuesday w/ next day shipping.

I'm actually amazed they are at MSRP. Now I just need to find out how long till they get to Namibia.

The reference cards have different box content. Sapphire throws in the most cables and adapters of all the vendors:

CrossFire™ Bridge Interconnect Cable
8 PIN to 4 PIN Power Cable
Mini Display Port to HDMI dongle
Mini DP to SL-DVI Passive dongle
6 PIN to 4 PIN Power Cable
HDMI to SL-DVI Adapter
HDMI 1.4a high speed 1.8 meter cable(Full Retail SKU only)
Mini Display Port to SL-DVI Active dongle

The Asus card, which at $589 is $40 more than the Sapphire, includes:

1 DVI to HDMI adapter cable
1 DVI to mini Display Port adapter cable
1 6-pin to 8-pin converter cable
1 Crossfire Bridge

I guess you're paying for the Asus reputation and warranty. Gigabyte's content is similar to Asus.
