Newegg goodness

So far this week I've had 7 customers walk in with the same exact problem:

Customer: Hi, I need a SATA power cable/converter.
Me: Let me guess, you bought a harddrive from Newegg, it came OEM, and no cable with it.
Customer: Yeah, how'd you know?
Me: That's why I now keep 5 or 6 extras at home at all times.


Not really a huge problem, I just find it funny that most people don't notice the tiny print on their site explaining the need for the cable, or like me, totally forget about it until they get the drive and realize their mistake.

I'm still working with EIDE, in fact just got and RMA'd my new 200gb drive because it failed formatting at 87% 3 times

nope, dont own any SATA HDDs or any hardware that can even support SATA

I love how Newegg post on their site next to the harddrive that it is the harddrive only. well, with OEM drives that is. I really wish people would learn to read a bit more.

My motherboard came with one, and my case came with more. But I just use the SATA power connectors on my PSU.

Actually I just looked up a SATA drive, didn't see anything saying that it came with just the drive, or that it needed a cable.

Maybe it's just me though, but I do buy enough stuff from them that I would've noticed.

i so prefer the classic newegg: OEM

It states that it is OEM drive only

I just ordered an oem drive, BUT, I also ordered an epox nf4u board wich i think comes with one.

I don't own a sata device, but I do have a neopower 480 and a mobo that will support it.
I've got 4 hdds in my machine (2x200gb, 2x160gb) and they are all ide.

All of my harddrives are SATA. I absolutely love the smaller cables, and have zero issues with compatibility or installation or anything of the sort. From the last computer I built onward, everything I do will be SATA based

Back when I got OEM drives from them, they came with a SATA cable.

I guess I was lucky.
