Not bad but too many rebate cards for me.
Newegg on Ebay has MSI GeForce GTX 970 GTX 970 4GD5T Titanium OC 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 for 269.99 + 3.99 shipping no rebates. Aftermarket cooler and a back plate it looks like too. link

I know the listing says dual slot, but man, with that honking fan/cooler, looks like it may take 3 :O

Forgive my ignorance but why do so many higher-end cards like this still come with DVI ports? Why wouldn't it be better to have 2 HDMI and 2 displayport (and maybe include an HDMI to DVI adapter for those with older monitors)?

Because there are a lot of users that are running monitors that require dual DVI since their resolution is 1440p/1600p and their only input is DVI.

Active DVI-DL conversion from displayport is extremely fragile and prone to problems.

Easier that for the HUGE numbers of people still running DVI monitors to just have a DVI port on the cards.

Cool, thanks for the answer!

$269.99... nice find! My HTPC just got an upgrade... I guess I'll take the GTX 660 and put it into my gaming PC for PhysX calculations.

I'd still much prefer HDMI ports w/ HDMI->DVI adapters. I run my monitors via active HDMI cables and some of them have DVI adapters at one or both ends to be able to. The active HDMI cables are super thin and easy to route along the arm-mounts I use and 2-3 cables per monitor takes less space than any one of the quality DVI cables I had been using.

There are no HDMI to DVI-DL adapters I'm aware of. I don't mean DVI digital. I mean DVI dual, which is what's required to push DVI up to higher resolutions than 1080p that standard DVI or HDMI supports.

In theory, one would think there could be an HDMI 2.0 adapter to DVI-DL, but I've never heard of such a product. And it seems unlikely (and unwise) to imagine someone running Displayport (or HDMI 2.0) to HDMI 2.0 (or Displayport) to then convert to DVI-DL.

Probably just best they keep putting DVI on GPU's for a few years until 4K gets super common ($200 monitors). There are a lot of users running 1440p Korean monitors with only DVI (last year) or high end monitors like the Dell 3007WFP-HC which are great 1600p monitors that only have DVI-DL support.

As I said, active conversion from Displayport to DVI-DL is troublesome and unreliable. Look up reviews of the ACTIVE adapters you are required to use to see more info. Plus, they cost a LOT more than the addition of them on a GPU costs.
