I've heard of Apollo but never tried their products. The fan does look like an old 9200 fan :p but it is pretty big, so who knows? I would wait till a better brand comes out myself.

Bah, overpriced like all 6600GT AGP's. For that price it's better to inquire into a 6800 deal. Cool looking HSF though.

The cooler looks weird, but is probably ok. Still way too much for a 6600Gt. I'd much rather buy a BFG 6800 OC for $20 more.

Never used Apollo but I have used the XFX 6600gt that they have. I love mine it works really really well! Ontop of all that the XFX has a much better bundle than the Apollo. Only advantage the apollow has over the XFX is it's not dual-dvi.

uhh what? you think not having dual DVI is an advantage? weird... most people want that...

Nope not for me... I like it personally but MOST people have VGA as in my little brother which got the same card.

Thats what the DVI to VGA adapter is for. Not to mention the XFX comes with 2.

IIRC, Apollo, like Inno3D, was on the budget side of the scale. Then again, I thought MSI was, too, and yet its video cards have become top-flight in the past few years. That cooler certainly looks beefy enough, but I'm not sure the insanely thick "fins" will help dissipate heat very well.

they have a chaintech model here too: http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=14-145-107&depa=0

it only runs at 500/900, but it's a bit cheaper and the cooler looks a bit better than that ridiculous hunk of metal on the apollo card (which is also apparently used on albatron's 6600gt agp). from what i've seen, chaintech, gainward, and aopen seem to be using the same cooler design on their cards.

I had an Apollo Radeon 8500 back in the day (that day being two years ago). Meh...it was kind of quirky. Not only did it come clocked lower than the Built By ATI cards (I want to say mine was 250/225), it also exhibited major interference or something with the motherboard I was using at the time (Abit BM6 or whatever that Socket 370 board was). It would almost look like the interference you'd see on a monitor or TV when a cell phone goes off next to it - but I only ever noticed it in games. Anyway, the problem went away when I changed motherboards, so I'm not really sure if it was the card's fault...it never had problems after that. For $83, it wasn't bad.

Oh...we were talking about the 6600GT, right. :p

Umm....it's overpriced. ;)

The eVGA AGP 6600 GT is available at Zipzoomfly for $229.99. It even includes an HDTV dongle, which does not come with any 6800. I really don't see the AGP 6600 GT's coming down below $200 any time soon. Low availability, high demand, and the fact that users will only be able to use a single card will probably give resellers significant incentives to keep the prices where they are. On the other hand, transitioning adoption of PCIe coupled with the fact that resellers would ideally like to sell each customer a pair of SLI certified 6600 GT's (either initially or eventually) will keep the prices of the PCIe variants $30-$50 cheaper.

wow newegg and zzf show more 6600GT AGP cards now. The 6600GT roundup is done on pci-e cards. Can we expect same set of results their counter-part AGP cards? If that's the case, leadtek one is very tempting at the lost price. waiting for them to be available...
