Nah, those things just seem tacky. I got the Asus P5B instead.
Neat, I ended up getting one because I got an e-mail saying that my in-store pickup order from microcenter ($349.00 for the retail box, I think...it got placed after I visited a local place that had told me that they'd have the E6600 chips in today and they told me that they wouldn't be in until the end of the month) had been canceled due to no stock at pretty much the exact time that newegg dropped the prices, and I just decided "well, $20 to put an end to all this (and avoid getting an OEM chip which might be of a less overclockable revision/stepping than the retail B1/5 one) is worth it". So I got 2-day shipping on it, and it should actually be arriving at the same time as all the other parts I purchased from newegg. Finally.
It may not be a paper launch, but I'd still say it's "paper enough". On an unrelated note, don't waste time placing an order on microcenter for their retail E6600 chips, as it seems they do not actually have any in stock (yet).
