Newegg e-mail hoax

I got an e-mail today that an order was shipped from Newegg for $1786.80. Wow!! As much as I would love to have that much from Newegg, my wife would kill me. There is a zip file included with the e-mail that sets off my virus scanner.

I called newegg and the representative confirmed that the e-mail is not real. The account in the e-mail is not real. They are investigating. I thought this post might be helpful to others seeing this pop up in their e-mail. I was on hold for 15-20 minutes before I actually got through to someone

i'm surprised this didn't have more responses...I thought there would have been a lot more people affected by this

Did you alert DHS and the FBI? This reeks of al-Qaeda.

lmao, it sounds like you were fortunate. If instead of a zip file, they had simply said "click this link to cancel your order" then "for verification, we need the number on your visa card to complete the cancellation" you're making it sound like they'd have been more successful.
