Hi how all we know NEWEGG canceled TAX charge for NYC customers (sure all we went to BB and CC).
But does it means State will charg us by billing or noone will ?
It's some kind of unclear story.

I doubt that the state can set a system where every one in the USA can report to them if they sell any thing to a New York residence including shipping address tel. etc., and that the state is capable to issue Tax bills accordingly.

I am not even sure that it is legal to provide this info. to the state.

I think the current change is just part of the general Legal fight of the state of New York against the world, and that we did not heard the end of it either.

I live a little ways up the line and I got the email, I'd have to assume it's statewide.

Just checked my email, and yes it's statewide.

Technically, customers are supposed to report online purchases and pay taxes on them

While Newegg no longer charges sales tax to its New York customers ? you may still have an obligation to pay New York State use tax on your purchases

The case is still ongoing</a>"

This has actually been going on for years...when you file your tax return, you are suppose to declare out of state sales such as these however it has been impossible for NY to prove/collect on these...not sure if newegg and others will have to "report" these sales to the state or not, I doubt it but ya never know...
