Newegg CPU / HSF combo questions

I will be purchasing the Tbird 1.2GHz 266MHz and had 2 questions:

Does anyone know what make/model heatsink and fan are shipped with these combos?
I e-mailed newegg but haven't received a response.

Also, do they include their generic $1 thermal grease with these?

Mine looked like a coolermaster and it came with a little blister of something that resembled toothpaste. I wouldn't look to either for a cooling solution.

Emailing them will take forever. If you have any questions, they have some nice CSR's and it's a toll free call.

do not get the retail HSF...it sucks big time. If you can order the global win cak from newegg.com...if not i recommend the taisol copper based HSF if you want quiet or the thermalright sk-6 if you want more performence.

Yes, it'll come with a Cooler Master POS. Just order something better from the start. I have a Golden Gate w/ 40 cfm fan on order cause the DoDo Master cant cool shoit. Dont waste your time like I did, but if you want I'll sell you my DoDomaster for CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!! Did I mention that it's cheap🙂

The combos are crap. You pay an extra $10-$20 for a crappy $5-$10 HSF. It is really not worth it. It's worth it to buy seperately and get a better HSF for less (or about the same).

Thanks everyone.

I think I'll forget the combo and get a decent HSF separately, I'll look at some of the ones you've all suggested. I doubt I'll overclock right off the bat so I don't need anything outrageous but knowing me I'll get bored after a month and start tinkering.

<< order the zalman 5000 from plycon >>

The 5000 is a rockin' HSF, but you have to have quite a bit of room on your board and the holes to mount it.
