Newegg.com was established in 2001 and had revenues of US$526 million in 2003, making it the sixth-largest online computer and electronics vendor in the US, ranking behind Dell, Best Buy, Circuit City, eMachines, and Buy.com, Hsieh said, quoting a US-based Hitwise report.
How can they be bigger than Amazon?

Crap...accidentally printed the article to the office printer. Time to make a casual stroll over there

Ah, I see...they sell books, music, and movies, unlike the other vendors on that list.

Hmm, on the chinese site, they list an Abit NF7 mobo for 490.00. Assuming it's Chinese Yuan...that's $59.20
cheapest on the US site is $69.18

This was posted in the "comments" section of the news article I posted on the front page:

I actually work a few miles from their main office in LaVerne, CA. I never even knew how close I was to them until I was talking to the FedEx delivery lady one day, and she told me that NewEgg is one of FedEx's biggest customers in the nation. They ship thousands of packages out of the warehouse every day and operate almost around the clock. It's easy to see why they're doing so well, they work very very hard.

its funny, I used to love buying stuff from newegg but I really haven't done that the past couple of years. Been able to find my stuff elsewhere cheaper somehow... but still thumbs up to newegg. Hope they keep it up

I worry a bit about the idea of them becoming a common stock company.

They will need to meet/exceed projections to keep their bitching shareholders happy, which means increasing profits and decreasing costs in any way possible.

How will they decrease costs? First thing they will do is cut back on customer service, just like every other big company out there already has.

I hope that doesn't happen, but it's hard to have much faith anymore. ;)
