I just noticed this today when I logged on to check up on their HD deals.

Newegg.com Preferred Account

Looks like a pretty cool offer. The 6 months promotional "no payments for 6 months for orders over $500" seems like it can come in handy for the holiday season.
Also the Free rush processing seems cool, though I've never used that before.

Anyone tried it yet?

copied and pasted from the link:

Yeah, which is in turn run by Chase, so double

Last year or so Newegg launched (well, SUPPOSEDLY launched) their own "preferred account" with a lot of the same terms. I signed up, got approved, but never could use it because for about 6 months when you got to the payment section it would say "The Newegg Preferred account is temporarily disabled. We apologize for the inconvenience". Multiple calls to them asking when it would be fixed got no answers (usually "soon" or "sometime"). Now they've done away with it completely, yet it still shows up on my credit report as available credit not being used. Thanks Newegg. :|

Sounds like another option/way for people with bad credit and/or bad spending habits that were denied a real credit card to get some merchandise. :p

Edit: Apparently the story isn't there anymore. Here ya go...

CORONA, Calif. (AP) - The address was his, but the name on the credit card offer took Sami Habbas by surprise: "Palestinian Bomber."

"I thought it was a joke or something," said Habbas, 54, a Palestinian-American who served in the U.S. army.

Habbas opened the letter, and the salutation read "Dear Palestinian Bomber."

When he called the company, JPMorgan Chase & Co., provided his ZIP code and invitation number, two operators said to him: "Yes, Mr. Bomber, what can we do for you?"

"It's very upsetting," Habbas said. "I'm not what they are saying, a Palestinian bomber. That's uncalled for. I have a name. My name is Sami Habbas."

The information came from a list Chase purchased from a vendor, said Kelly Presta, Chase Card Services executive vice-president. Chase Card Services, the Delaware-based credit card line of JPMorgan Chase & Co., said it doesn't know how that name was attached to Habbas's address but it is investigating.

"Although no Chase employee was involved in creating this information, we are embarrassed by this incident and regret that our automatic screening procedures did not catch this erroneous information," Presta said.

Habbas, a grocer who has lived in the United States since age 3, doesn't know why he would be singled out or how anyone would even know he has Palestinian heritage.

"It just hurt me to think I am discriminated against in my own backyard," he said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations in Washington, D.C., has asked Chase for a formal apology.

"The most important thing is to make sure this doesn't happen again, to any American, regardless of their race or religion," said Sabiha Khan, spokeswoman for the Muslim civil liberties group in Southern California.

If you have the means and the discipline, credit can be a good thing... It's the interest that kills you.

So just buy some stuff with a debit card, or apply for a real credit card. I never understand people that sign up for this crap. I guess it's the true "American Way." i.e Buying stuff one can't afford in an attempt to live the American dream of being surrounded by material possessions.

On that note, I do love my shiny new 2405FPW :p

I head someone say:
"People spend money the don't have, to buy stuff they don't need, to impress people they don't even like"

I do like my (paid for) 2405FPW too.

Does this mean I'll get "Preferred" treatment when I RMA something, or will they just send me someone else's RMA again? I returned a motherboard, complete in box, and recieved a bare motherboard. When I complained that it was missing all the cables, etc. they sent me a partial cable set. When I complained about that, and the newly discovered fact that this was just someone else's RMA board, they promised to send me a "new" replacement. I got another bare "RMA" board from them! When I complained again, they promised not to screw it up this time, and actually did send me a new replacement...for a total of three weeks down time, plus me having to pay return postage on their screw-ups!
Forget Newegg's service and go straight to the manufacturer..even better, buy from someone else!

I had 2 Chase cards compromised this year. One of them I only used once to buy something at Amazon. Their security sucks.

Not to hate, but are you sure it was Chases fault??
