Alright, I don't know what I should do about this and I need your help guys. I got 2x512mb kit of RAM, but only one stick was defective. Should I send them both back or just the one defective stick? I'm not really sure what to do.

If a pack, send both. That's the whole point of getting matched pairs, other than saving a few bucks.

I agree. Newegg is also very quick with the RMS's and you'll (usually) get a brand new set instead of a refurb.

You're luckier than me, the 1GB dual channel kit I ordered about a month ago had TWO defective sticks, which meant that I was annoyed and simply swallowed the 15% restocking fee + shipping to get a refund. Of course, since RAM prices are continuing to drop, maybe that was a good thing... :)

For RAM, I usually deal directly with the manufacturer. I mean, I buy from Newegg but if they're defective, I deal with the manufacturer.

I have bought single sticks and after talking to Crucial, Kingston or whomever, have found that the chips on the stick in question are giving them problems with certain chipsets. They exchanged for sticks with different chips.

I know you've got a single stick from a dual pack that's NFG. Just sharing information.

They'll usually cross ship with no complaints too.
