Is this even warm? For modern gaming, you really want something with PCI-E 4.0, like a 5600X or 5800X3D.

But for around $100? Still, I think that a 12100F outperforms the 4500 in gaming, but not in productivity.

Edit: 5600 non-X @ Newegg is $145 after $15 promo.

Tough sell this late in 2022. 25% the L3 cache of a 3600 and a 100MHz lower boost clock. Needs to be $80 or so to make sense IMO. For +$26 the 5500 has x2 the L3, Zen 3 IPC, and better overclocking potential. PCIE 3.0 will only be noticeable if pairing with 6400/6500. I don't think anyone can tell us right now, when direct storage will make an impact in PC games. Consequently, I just don't see 4.0 or 5.0 as anything other than boxes to check in the budget build space if using a any other GPU.

And yeah I realize we can stretch the "for X amount more" out to Flagship. I think stopping at $26 is pretty reasonable for getting Zen 3 v Zen 2.

Already changed my mind! :p $144 for the 5600G is the winner. I know they can hit 4.7GHz all core, and you get a better than GT1030 GPU included for free.
