newegg 1700xp price went up $52.00

NOT HOT! This sucks. I've been waiting to jump on a deal for a mobo combo around the $100 range, and this price increase is not looking good for my purchase plans. Oh well....

RE:"Might as well get a Barton 3000 for about $650 instead...."

Next couple weeks you might get a 1800+ thoughbred for the same price the way things are going.

Why didn't you jump on it during the weekend when they were selling it for 47 bucks? 😛
Like they say, you snooze you lose.

See there is this funny guy called "Supply". It has a buddy, called "Demand". Right now Mr. Demand is slapping around Supply. But Demand is kinda wimpy, he'll probably not stay in this fight for long. And Mr. Supply is in it for 18 rounds.

In most cases I would agree, but in Newegg's case I think its much simpler than that:

Newegg employs a dedicated team that monitors the pulse and buying tendencies on internet forums. That's all the market research you need 🙂

In fact, they may even have a few spies and plants running around....Staples and a few other retailers do for a fact.

I actually was going to jump on this but wanted to get a K7S5A PRO as well, and noticed that friggin' thing don't come with a backplate! Now, the regular K7S5A don't come with one either no more, but at least it is a standard layout... the K7S5A PRO layout is weird and I wouldn't be able to use the backplate that came with my case... why on earth would ECS release this thing without packaging the proper backplate?! Maybe they are rushing these puppies out to make extra dough right before the SIS746-based boards hit the shelves... anyway, so while I was hesitating 'cos of the lack of backplate the price of the 1700+ was jacked up twice! 🙁

That's why you should never mention on here or any other deals forum what you're about to buy... some dude is reading your posts and then jacks up the price on their website right before you hit their site to order...

There are definitely plants that post "hot deals" and try to get forum members all excited and impulse buy... (by the way, Newegg is blowing out KINGSTON HyperX Series 184-pin 512MB DDR434 (PC3500) DDR RAM modules, Model# KHX3500/512- for only $169 shipped!)

I agree. Newegg gave us plenty of time to jump on those at a lower price. 🙂

No it's not Tbred Rev. A despite what the code says on their site. They still ship you a Rev. B regardless 😛 My guess is that they just haven't updated the info yet.
