newdev.dll error coming up, any ideas?

I have never seen this error and it cames out of no where. My system was running fine utnil a few days ago when I unplugged it to blow out all the dust.
Now I get an error that pops up saying

"error in newdev.dll
Missing Entry:clientsideinstall"

I am running win xp pro sp3

the error mainly comes up when I first open programs such as IE or when I plug in my iphone but even sitting idle all night I wake up to about 10 of the errors.

any ideas!?

thanks bsobel. I am not having trouble downloaing and installing xp updates and when I tried downloading the file anyway it said the service pack didn't match since it is made for SP1 and I am running SP3.
I downloaded the newdev.dll from my sisters xp laptop and replaced mine with it and no luck it didn't change anything

Have you tried doing a system restore back to before the date this started happening?

no i haven't, not only am i not exactly sure sure how to use restore (i had it disabled for years and have only had it enabled for 6 months0 but i also do not know the exactl date which the error started (which is nor maybe 2 weeks or so old) but i also do not know what i changed when the error occured

You could try a repair reinstall of XP and then d/l all the updates from MS
