Newcastle or Clawhammer???

Looking at these 2 cpu for a 754 board which do u guys think will be the best??

3400+ 2.4 512 L2 cache Newcastle core price$220

3400+ 2.2 1mb L2 cache Clawhammer core(says notebook) $234

ya, nc is faster. The A64's arent too dependant on the cache size i guess. Also, i was told that i can expect like 2.6-2.7 on air for an oc. That's very good as far as i'm concerned.

Have you already braught the motherboard?? if not i can see nho reason why anyone would want a 754 chip now that the 939 low enders are out. If it was cost effective, in would swap out my clawhammer 3200+ for a 939 one straight away.

having got that off my chest i have a hammer and i would rather have a newcastle, so if it has to be 754 then get yoursef a newcastle!!!
karlos

i picked up a 3400+ NC... can't believ ethey've dropped so much..

i remember when i picked up a 3200+ CH for 270+... now the 3400+ is almost at 200

sheesh

If you can get a CG stepping Clawhammer then i would say go with the Clawhammer. Otherwise go with a Newcastle. The Clawhammer will be better to OC if that is what your planning to do.

I prefer the Newcastle due to higher clockspeed. Not all apps are dependent on a large cache - but clockspeed helps in most cases.
