Hey ive decided to o/c my a64 3200+ a bit. What i wanna know is how far i should put up the FSB? as im just looking for a little speed increase nothing extreme and whether or not i should touch the voltages. Theyre set on auto atm and i dont think ill touch emm unless its a good idea.
I put the FSB up from 200mhz to 210 mhz for a test and it now says im sunning at 2.1 Ghz?!?! is this true??? is it lying?? cuz thats excellent for such a little change. If i had it at 220 itd be similar to a 3400+. Plz advise.

Go for it . . . it is as simple as raising the FSB.

However, read all you can ("search" is your friend) about O/C'ing to get a completely stable computer (there are benchmark/stress testing programs for this).

As a new o/c'er, go for INCREMENTAL o/c's (1 or 2 mhz increases in the FSB) and enjoy the new increased speed as you test it for stability.

When it becomes UNstable, back off to the last stable o/c OR increase the v-core voltage ONE notch. Watch your CPU temps to make sure your CPU is not overheating . . . generally - 10% increase in v-core - is considered "safe" although it WILL shorten your CPU's life a bit (a lot of us doN'T increase the voltage at all - especially if we plan to sell our CPU to a friend later).

There is also some useful data at overclockers.com

good luck

you can probably raise the fsb on that a64 easily to 220 to make it a 3400, i really doubt you will need to touch the vcore, depending on your memory/mobo. with the price on that particular cpu, also, i wouldn't mess with the vcore at all if you're knew at o/cing because, basically, that's the only way you can damage your cpu in an over clock. so why risk it?
