I have a wired SMC in the house with 6 computers all working fine. Need to go wireless for 3 more and intend to hook it to existing wired SMC. WHat do I need to know or use, or do about making it secure, encyrpted or whatever?

thanks.....

This is what you need to do

1. Use a crossover cable and connect the D-Link to your computer
2. Log into the D-Link router and changed the ip scheme to match your SMC (D-Link is 192.168.0.X and SMC is 192.168.2.X) by default, so you need to change the D-Link to an ip that is 192.168.2.X.
3. Then connect using a regular cable the D-Link to the SMC via LAN port to LAN port and not LAN(SMC) port and WAN(D-Link) port.

That setup will work but in all honesty it is probably better to just get a wireless access point and not a router, since your SMC is already a router.
