newbie who doesn't understand

Hello everyone,

I'm a 21 year old guy from the Netherlands. I'm into computers, but i really hate voltages. I have an AMD 3000+ which was standard at 2.0 Ghz (socket754).... I managed to overclock it to 2.2 and 2.3Ghz through the BIOS.
After reading some materials on this board, i got a bit nervous about voltages and stuff. It's running at 2.2Ghz right now and i have no problems at all (although it's a bit warmer then usual) but was wondering if i needed to do anything with voltages or something. I would kill myself if i were doing something wrong with my computer and if it would do unrepairable damage.

Is there anyone who can say anything usefull?

If your system is stable at that speed, unless you want to go further, you don't need to raise the voltage.

Hi Kyatto and Wlecome to the Forums!

Heat is what can damage CPU's and other components.

Heat is caused by voltage.

When OCing a CPU, many people will increase the voltage to it (vcore). THe higher vcore will usually allow the CPU to run faster and remain stable.

When increasing the vcore, just watch the CPU's temperature wthl a monitoring program.

Sounds like you have NOT increased the vcore, so you have little risk in damaging your chip from your OC.

How's life in the Netherlands? I got to hang out there a lot there in the 90's (Lieden, Amsterdam and other places I can't spell )
