<newbie>unlocking XPs?

so u gotta unlock an XP to oc it rite? wats the easiest way to do this??? anyone got a link to a guide?! thanks in advnace guys!

Some people have good luck unlocking them, but i tried on 2 different xp1600 agoia's and never had good luck. I tried the unlocking kit from highspeed pc and the defogger kit and they were never stable. I tried about 4 times on one of them. I finally gave up and sent them to cpumods.com and had them unlocked. Now they run great at any multiplier i want to use. I've tried multipliers from 8x through 12.5x with no problems.

I unlocked mine with the Highspeed PC kit. It took a few tries to finally get it, but the kit has enough stuff to do it many times over. I like the fact that it came with a nice magnifying glass, too. All in all, it took me about 15 minutes.

Here is another good guide.

WARNING: This is NOT as easy as the articles make it look. The area in which you are working is TINY. Glue and paint can run under the tape and make unintended connections or prohibit intended connections. Even placing the tape so as to separate things is difficult. I suggest getting a VERY good magnifying glass or sending it out to be unlocked. Also, consider setting the multiplier fixed to something you want to hit (like 13 x 133 = 1729). That way you only have to do a couple of bridges (the middle one and the far right one), and they aren't right next to each other.

I have failed at it twice and am either going to give up or try one more time (but set it fixed to 13).
