Hey all,
I just moved into a new apartment with some friends and I'm in the process of setting up our network. This post poses two questions.
1) The router has a built in firewall, and I noticed that on the firewall page there are no ports listed as blocked. Is there a list of common ports that I should block? For that matter, is there someplace I can go and read about other settings that I should be concerned about that aren't "default"?
2) Our router is wireless. I am able to connect fine through a normal ethernet wire. My roommate, using a Linksys wireless card, can not. He sees the router in the connections list but can never actually get connectivity. I've even gone so far as to disable any encryption, but to no avail. Are there any common problems that might be tripping me/us up? I'm pretty knowledgable about computers, but this is just stumping me.
Thanks for any help in advance.
