Newbie ripping dvd - expereince = PITA ....

Newbie rip a dvd first time.

using smartripper and flaskmpeg (most easiet to use) compared to Gordian Knot (see 2nd poster link for INSANE insturction)

expereince = PITA.

Flaskmpeg CRASH so many times and video / audio out of sync

I visit doom9 and vcdhelp.
It takes me so long to fix/tweak the out of sync problem, however, flaskmpeg crash numerious time b4 a successful full vob -> dvix encoding with divx 5 codec

btw, I use a Dell 4500 Stock P4 1.8 512Mb DDR to do divx encoding. (~2 hr for encoding a 1hr 40 min dvd)
Video still sometimes DROP FRAME.....

Is my PC not fast enough ?

Anyone want to comments / share their dvd-ripping expereince ?

I am also looking for a comprehensive flaskmpg tweaking guide.

are you overclocking?

i dont know if it's just my system, but when i overclocked my xp 1700+, i used to get alot of audio sync problems when converting.

since ive been running at stock speed, no problems at all.
