A lot of people come to these boards, myself included, because they lack the knowledge, experience or subject matter expertise for truly understanding the ins and outs of building their own PC. While I have a few builds under my belt, I always have to default to these boards whenever I am ready for an upgrade as the technology is always moving faster then my understanding of it.
That being said, there seems to be daily posts by people looking for advice on how to build a system...when I built my first system, I purchased a book that for today's build is probably terribly outdated...yet I know across various websites, forums and the likes, people have posted any number of build guides to help us newbies out.
I am starting this thread with the intent of those who are in the know posting any and all links that provide helpful guide resources for building PCs...from choosing components, to configuring a bios, installing an OS for the first time, tweaking for max performance and overclocking...I know some of these guides reside in AnandTech, some on other sites...perhaps there is some value in consolidating links for these resources in one thread...if there is not a need for this thread, it will die a quick and painless death...if others think this thread might be useful, start posting links...thanks.
