Just built my first system components are:

Gigabyte GA-81HXP
P4 2.26
512MB Kingston 1066 RDram
Gainward GeForce 4 4200
WD 80gig HD
Asus DVD player
Yamaha CRW3200E CD burner
Lian-Li PC-65
Enermax EG365AX-VE

My Questions are:

1-What should my temperatures be about? I've been getting 44C to 50C for CPU temp and about 35C for system temp.

2-What should my fan rpms be? Currently CPU fan is 2600rpms and power fan is 2500.

3-Is there anyway to adjust CPU fan speed if 2600 is to slow?

4-Motherboard has ability to read system fan rpms. The fans that came with the Lian-Li don't have a plug for it though. Are there aftermarket fans out there with this feature? If so please recommend a good one.

Thank You

Nice system. As to the questions:
#1--Although I am not a P4 user, those temps do not seem out of line from what I have seen reported. Are those the temps during idle or under load?

#2--Your fan rpm's will be whatever the fan is rated for. Unless you have fans that have a speed control either included in the wiring (that you can manually adjust) or controlled by a thermal sensor, the fans will always spin about the same; you have no control otherwise.

#3--No, unless you have the "manual" adjusting fans mentioned above.

#4--Yes there are fans that have the extra (third) wire that gives the ability to monitor the rpms. 2600 rpms is not too slow if it is doing the job. If not then of course it is too slow. Again, I am no P4 expert so maybe someone else can help there. Just from what I have seen, your temps don't seem too far off. As to recommendations, there are so many it would be difficult to read your mind and know what speeds you want and how loud (or quiet) you want them.
You could go to this site and look around. There is one or two variable speed fans there. The YS Tech fan has an external control. There is also a thermal control (temp sensor) fan there. Don't be confused by three pin vs four pin connectors. The three pin ones connect to the MB but not all have the third wire necessary for rpm monitoring. The four pin fans connect to the Power Supply and do not have rpm monitoring unless they mention that they have a separate rpm connector included. Many of the three pin fans have the third wire built on. It is usually yellow and obvious in the pictures. Some even describe it. If you are not sure, ask. Hope this helps.

people have quoted their 1.6A P4's at low 40's, so you're a bit high in that respect, although i could attribute that to high heat and humidity in your room. All in all you're still well within safe operating ranges for the P4. Best to be on the safe side if you want to OC though.
