Newbie questions about CPUs -- OEM v. Retail...

Sorry about the newbie-ish question...

What do you get when you buy an OEM CPU? Does it have a heatsink? A fan? How about a Retail CPU?

If I'm not overclocking (yet), should I worry about buying a good HSF?

I've got everything else and I'm ready to buy my CPU... but I want to make sure I have everything I need since I don't have a bunch of spare fans, cables, screws, etc... lying around.

I appreciate your help.

A retail CPU comes with a HS/F and a three year warranty. A OEM CPU does not come with a HS/F and usually only has a 30 day warranty.

You should definitely want a good HS/F if you want to overclock. I've got my Duron600@900 1.60 volts right now, but I can't go any further till I get my Taisol CGK742092 today 🙂. You can get a the cheaper coolermaster or taisol if you don't plan on overclocking.
