Newbie question on router

I am trying to setup a LAN at home. I understand the use of a router to share a broadband connection. At this point, I am confused and don't really know which router out there to pick. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I have 5 computers sharing dsl at my apartment and we just picked up the netgear rt311 router from outpost ($115 overnight shipping). We already have a switch so there's no need for the rt314 model. It worked right out of the box. Just plug it in and configure the router with some basic information and you're all set. I have not noticed any speed loss as a result of going from a server pc to the router so it is definitely worth it for the easy of use and security features of the router. As with all routers, there are a lot of advanced features you can play with to regulate traffic...I definitely recommend the netgear router from personal experience.

I already had a hub before with a small LAN setup in my house. So, I got the Linksys 1-port Cable/DSL router. It's very easy to set up and I haven't had any problems with it. Linksys also makes a 4 port version of the same router and it supports DHCP etc. and is very good. Hope this helps.
