I've got one stick of Buffallo Tech. 512MB (Winbound) 6-3-3-2 @2.8vMem w/ XP2500 @ 2.07 x 10.0 @ 1.7vCore. I've ordered a second stick of the same RAM and am wondering what I should expect/try first when I go to dual-channel mode? Once I install the second stick, should I start w/ "optimal" settings? Should I expect to need to have to loosen up my RAM timings? If so, am I going to have a slower PC as a result?

This is my first serious (ie: time consuming) forray into oc'ing and I am satisfied with my results so far. Seeing as I can't afford to spend too much more time on my (over)indulgences right now. I would like to get my machine running as fast as possible, however. (duh???)...

i don't think dual channel helps us amd users.

btw, did you try:

FSB 210
MULTI 11x
vcore 1.65v

this is what i've got, and it should make you a little faster and cooler.
that is, if the chip lets you.

Set it to auto before you install the RAM, once it's installed and you've tested the RAM enough to know it's not defective, go ahead and start messing with the timings.

THX jeff. That makes sense. Assuming the RAM's good, Do you think I'll be able to get to where I'm at now, or will the dual channel dealio mean I 'll need to lighten up?

sugarkang: THX for the input. It no posted at those settings.

You might have to loosen the timings... just run a benchmark like 3DMark2001 and see if dual channel with loose timings is faster than single channel with tighter timings.

THX. Yeah that's what I thought. I'll have to see which is faster... Hmmm, I'm curious how it will turn out. Interesting test. Anyone out there have any predictions???

I'm thinking the tighter timings might be more beneficial. My RAM won't run at CAS 2 though, only 2.5, so I never got a chance to test that out with my own.

I received the second stick of RAM..). Now stable at 11-3-2-2 @ 2.7vMem. (Dual Channel Mode gave better results) XP 2500 is a pseudo XP 3000, MB: ASUS A7N8X. 2.03 x 10.5 = 2.14ghz, 408fsb, 1.8vCore Idles at 39C.

THX ppl for all of the help!
