Newbie Question concering 64bit Vista

Just went from 32-bit Vista to 64-bit.

Instead of everything installing default to Program Files, it installs to Program Files (x86) now.

I'm just a bit confused by this as i thought x86 was Vista 32-bit version?

That's where 32 bit apps go. You're technically only running apps in 64 bit mode if the app is specifically written for it. Don't worry, 32 bit apps run just as quickly under 64 bit.

** I should also note that 64 bit apps will install in \Program files
