Newbie question: Benchmarking?

What is the BEST program for Benchmarking a Radeon 8500, and is there a website that will show me comparison numbers for a similar rig?

Why not pick one of a thousand reviews see what they use and then copy ? try 3dmark to start of with to, this will help you to check that your setup is running as it should be.

Try 3DMark2001@MadOnion. They have an Online Result Browser and lets you compare your system to others. They also have an Online Performance Analyzer that lets lets you theoretically see how much faster your graphics will be with different Nvidia based VC's.

The best benchmarks are the real-world games that you'll actually use your card for. Pay no attention to synthetic benchmarks like 3DMark because they mean nothing in the real world.
