Newbie question-adding additional TVs/DVRs to Comcast

Comcast just made me replace my owned internet modem which got me to thinking about this. I'm a complete video/cable noobie so please forgive if I'm using the wrong termiology.

We have a mother in law apartment in our house and in there we have a fancy digital cable TV box that includes a DVR. Two other TVs in the house, each has a Comcast provided freebie box (very small) that was sent out last year as part of the all-digital conversion. Those two TVs get just basic cable while the TV hooked to the fancy box/DVR gets a lot more stations, has a box on the screen saying what's playing, etc. On our bill we pay a "HD Technology Fee" which says "Whole House Fee Authorizes All HD Capable Outlets in the house" and also pay a "DVR Service" fee of $7.00. There are two lines on the bill for Digital Adapter Service-Additonal Outlet"-both are zero dollars.

Here's my question-can I buy a DVR (or something like that), hook it up to one or both of the two additional TVs and get the full range of programs there? What do I need to look for in equipment? I'd like to avoid additional cable fees-the bill is already too high.

Also, can I get a DVR for the TV that already has digital TV to eliminate the $7.00 monthy charge? Will I have to replace the digital box for that TV in that instance?

To get other than the basic cable channel access you have to pay rental for a descramble card, whether it's via cable card or set top box.

Whether you own your dvr or rent it you will pay the dvr access fee. Whether you own or rent only determines if you pay an additional rental fee.

Welcome to the world of cable % satellite using monopolies to bend you over.
