Newbie Question About Wifi

I got a Dell Axim and i'm currently shopping for a wifi card for it and I came across a pretty good deal on a linksys compact flash wifi card but I realized I know next to nothing about wireless. The card i'm looking at is a 2.4ghz B card, so does this mean I have to get a 2.4ghz B Router? Can I get a 2.4ghz G Router instead(I might also be getting a centrino notebook soon as well)? I thought G is backwards compatiable with B. Also I have 2.4ghz cordless phones in the house (not used very often) but will this interfear with the 2.4ghz wireless connection if someone were to call my house?

The phone may interfere, but you can change the channel on your wireless rig to solve that. I have two 2.4ghz phones here, and my wireless works just fine. 🙂

Thanks for the quick responses but now I have Another Couple of questions...

I picked up the Linksys 2.4Ghz B compact flash adapter today and i'm shopping for a router. I like linksys products and have chosen to go with the Linksys 2.4ghz G router from amazon (so I can use my amazon card). My house is currently setup for regular wired internet (Cat 5 running around the attic) and I would prefer to leave the computers that are already hooked up to the wired internet alone.

My computer has 2 Ethernet ports (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) and only one is in use, so can I just use the 2nd ethernet port to hook up the router to or do I have to connect the current RJ45 cable into the wireless router and then run another cable from the wireless to my computer.

Also, how do I prevent other people from using the wireless signal? I've been reading some tips and stuff but it all makes no sense to me, anyone care to simplify?
