Newbie question about port scanning own WAN ip?

I'm new to this so feel free to correct me if anything I'm assuming is wrong.

I'm trying to find out if there is a way (simple enough for a beginner) to do a port scan on my own WAN IP (such as found at whatismyip.com).

I've been able to do it from a seperate internet connection using my cell phone's internet connection and a port scanner app. And also I've done it from online port scanner services.

However I have not found a way to do it myself from my own computer on the same network. I know I can do a scan of 192.168.1.1/24, however that shows all the ports open on my internal network. Trying to figure out if there is a way to scan for ports visible from outside my local network.

Can it be done?

Hardware wise all ports are open.

Software Firewall closes all the ports on the individual computers and keep open only few default ports and the ones that you allow. Firewall can also be set to allow what is considered ports from known applications.

Router's NAT also closes everything and let through few common ports and what you specifically configure (portwarding) to allow.

However Routers and Computers have also UPnP capacity that can open ports automatically without you knowledge.

These sit has a lot of useful l info and internal to external exposure.

Otherwise explain more specifically what is the issue that you are worried about.
