ok ,so I tried to oc my new system today. it's a amd 1600xp(locked) and an epox 8kha+(refur) from newegg.
I'm running a msi gforce2 ti and 256 mb crucial 2100 ram.
so I bumped the fsb to 166, and posted and win2k loaded just fine, but slower than usual.
the only thing that didn't work was my nic. it just didn't work. so from what i've read, this mobo doesn't have a 1/5 divider. I don't really understand this whole divider thing, I'm guessing that without the 1/5, the pci is overclocked and that's why it doesn't work. so 166 / 4 = 42 and so my nic won't work at 42mhz?
so my question is is there anything i can do about the nic? maybe i better brand, I have some cheapo netgear right now. and also, even when the fsb was maybe at 145, or 150, the computer seems to be slower booting up and opening apps when loaded.
the whole point of oc is to make it faster right, so by increasing the fsb, the comp. should load up faster, but does it seem slower?
oh, and i did bump up the vcore and vdim. is there anything else I'm missing?
tks guys, any comments would be appreciated.
