sup everybody, i have a really old computer, like P3 600 mhz old.

Anyway, i am in dire need of a hard drive. So my question is, i checked the statistics of my computer with Everest Home edition, and the hard drive already in the computer has an IDE ATA/66 interface. So if i buy a hard drive with an ATA/100 interface, will it work with my computer? if not, can anyone tell me where to find a hard drive with an ATA/66 interface because i definetly cant find one. I might be looking in the wrong places though. aite thanks in advance for your help.

ATA100 is backwards compatible with ATA66 and ATA33. A new drive will just run at the unnoticeably slower ATA66 speed.

You can also utilize a PCI card like the PROMISE ULTRA100TX2 PCI IDE Controller Card, cost is about $25. This will give you faster speeds. I've used one before. You have to load Windows on the system, then install a driver from a floppy that comes with it. Then plug the new HDD into the PCI card.
