A GF3 ti 200, ti 500 & a regular GF3 are all identical in terms of performance except for their clock and mem right? So, if you overclock a gF 3 ti 200 to 240/50 it will be exactly the same as a GF 3 ti 500 (not including any extra features that may be specific to a vendor like 3d glasses included with it or vivo)? I think this is the case but I need to know for sure :D

Yes, but not all GeForce3 Ti 200s are capable of that core clock speed.

I have a Visiontek Xtasy 6564 4401 release (with 3.8ns RAM) and my core only reaches 225MHz stable. My memory however has reached 535MHz stable.

Maybe you need better cooling? Mine couldnt reach 240 until i put a blorb on it... i know the memory could probably go higher but i kept it at 500 specs. :D

I'm running 215/500 on each now. I haven't tried any higher (I have the MSI card) because other than running a loop of 3dmark2001 I don't really know how to test for total stability. I've been playing war3 so far with no problems on this card but I'd hardly call that much of a way to push the card.

Like jonmcc said, you are correct. You will almost certainly be able to reach original GF3 levels with a ti 200 (200/460), but the ti500 realm is more of a toss-up. My Visiontek reaches 230/530 stable. I figure that the 10MHz on the core is probably close to made up for by the 30 MHz on the mem, so it is essentially ti500 levels.

However, I don't run at that speed because I don' t need it right now, so I run between the original GF3 and the ti500 levels (I call it ti400 levels). I run at 215 core 490 mem, except when I benchmark.

Does the theory that overclocking the core doesn't help performance much, still exist with the GF3/GF4 cards?

Because on my GF2, overclocking the core only increases performance by like 1 or 2 fps. O/Cing the mem is much better because of my GF2's memory bandwith bottleneck. Why can't you leave your core low and have your mem high (eg 200/550 instead of 225/535).
