Newbie Q on reassigning drive letter in 2000

I now know how to reassign the drive letters - partitions, CD, DVD, etc. within 2000.

If I do it - for example change my C: and D: with each other, will everything figure itself out, or will it all disappear? I'm familiar with '98, and if you do this, (unplug and rearrange cables) - basically the registry can't find anything.

Thus - If I rearrange the hard drive partitions, do I screw myself, or can it reset on the fly?

Thanks.

I fiddled around in there, and turns out it won't let you change the letter of the boot drive. Guess that answers it! I was trying to keep everything consistent between 98SE and 2000. Oh well, moving on. Thanks for the help.
