So I swore I checked the memory speed when I built this machine, but I installed another 4gb today and checked it to be sure it was recognized right.. low and behold it wasn't, and neither was the original 4gb.
The ram is G.Skill DDR2 PC8500, 1066, 5/5/5/15, 4 sticks of 2gb each. So I changed it to 533mhz in CMOS, booted back up, opened CPU-Z, and it showed 533mhz correctly but timings were 5/7/7/20. So I went back into CMOS and overrided the timing settings set it 5/5/5/15. CPU-Z now shows it correctly but i'm kind of worried because I had to manually set all that.
I can understand it recognized it wrong at 400mhz, but why did it change the timings when I set it to 533? I've never had to screw with manually doing anything with memory and past my first machine i've never overclocked so I want to just be sure I didn't make a mistake here.
M3A78-EM is the mobo if that matters.
