There are at least 5 things that you need to have a quality overclock

A good CPU. Yours (the Q6600) is awsome so you are good there.

A good Mother Board. Asus makes good motherboards and the P-35 chipset from intel does a good job. So you are good there.

A good PSU. Here is where I'm a bit iffy, you have chosen what looks to me to be the generic 600W PSU, you should be spending at least $50 on your PSU and it should be from a reputable company. You can use the number of ratings from newegg to get a good guestamate of what is best.

Good RAM. You are fine here as well, OCZ is a fairly well known company and should suit you fine.

And finally, good cooling. The Freezer Pro is a good budget cooler, it is not ABSOLUTLY needed as intel's fan cools well enough to get some decent overclocks. However, I would rather spend the extra bucks to get the best of the best, the thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme (~$60) Cooling severally effects how well your system will overclocking, better the cooling, the better the overclock. With that said, the Freezer Pro will do a good job and should give you a fairly decent overclock.

As for fans, I don't know how many come with this case, but you should have at least 2 fans (front and back of the case) to ensure good airflow. These fans should be 120mm to ensure fairly quiet operation. The ultimate airflow goal of a computer case it to have neutral or negative pressure. so try and get the same CFM rating for each fan blowing in and out, or at least have it add up to the same number.

Hope this helps :)

There is nothing wrong with Power & Cooling PSU. I think the poster saw the price of the warranties?????
That is an excellent PSU. I have found out that the ram IS Not recomended for this board thru the ASUS forum. OCZ has NO ram recomended for this board. Get Crucial Ballistix

Good luck with your build.

Your PSU is fine, PC Power & Cooling makes some of the Best PSU's out there. you may want to consider this memory instead of the OCZ, it has more overclocking headroom and can run ddr 800 @ 1.8v instead of 2.1v also does ddr 1000 @ 2.0v

Or if you just want cheap 4gb the Ewiz Supertalent 2gb modules for 35 ea over in the hot deals section would fit the bill also (I'm using 2 of those in my fathers P5K-Deluxe system which is almost indentical to the P5K-E)

hmm, I have to admit I'm a little behind in the PSU market (You don't really buy them too frequently if you buy well) I was just scared off by what I read as a $30 price tag.

The 832 comes with 2 fans fitted with an additional bays for another 7 120mm. I actually think one of the bays is a 120mm or 140mm!!

Depending on the degree of overclocking and your temperatures you may want to buy extra fans.

Initially you might want to consider one for the top of the case as a 'blow-hole' to exhaust all the hot air gathering near the top and one for the side to remove heat from the GFX area. Having said that the Stacker will have good natural airflow already so maybe you would want to build first, monitor temps with overclock and get any necessary fans as required.

The OP's orginal post is a little confusing, but I think the $30 is for an extended warranty.

If you're gonna OC your CPU, then you want to make sure you're getting G0 stepping. In that case, I'd head over to ClubIT since they guarantee G0 stepping. Also, are you gonna be running XP 32-bit/Vista 32-bit? If so, your 4GB of ram won't be completely utilized. As for a PSU suggestion, I'd suggest the Corsair 520hx. It's plenty of watts for your system and it's a modular PSU.

You'll be able to overclock to 3 Ghz without breaking a sweat. I just bought the same motherboard/cpu from newegg, and followed the guide in the cpu/overclocking forum, it was a snap. You can push the cpu higher but I'm happy at 3 Ghz for now.

Thanks for all the help. i may pull the trigger soon.

Would thinking about the zalman cpu cooler be better than the arctic for OC.

Also the asus MB comes in a wifi flavor. how are the boards different.

I do need wifi in my rig since I may not be able to connect to the internet directly.

will the other Mobo supply that functionality. If not what to do??

much appreciated.

Modular PSU lets you disconnect (unplug) cables from PSU block.
So you can unplug all cables you don't use to improve airflow inside case.
