newbie overclocking question

Cpu: AMD ATHLON XP 2200+
Mobo: Asus A7N8X deluxe
Ram: 512mb
current FSB: 133mhz
multiplier: 13.5x

i wanna start overclocking the cpu, somewhere around 2.2ghz is my goal. If i change the fsb to 166 i'd achieve it, is that a wise choice or is there another/safer way of reaching that goal. Any suggestions are welcome

Well if you could post ur id of the CPU it would help. But in the mean time What type of ram is it? And what is it rated @?

But as for overclocking just take It @ 50 MHZ increasments....

yeah, post the cpu ID #. and take the FSB higher. if the fails to boot, clear the CMOS from your mobo and bump the voltage up a notch and take it from there

how do i figure out the processor id number i know its a tbred? the ram is : KingMax 512MB PC-2700 DDR333 SDRAM

Nah - just do it. As long as you keep it within safe limits, just try whatever. You can always trip the BIOS later.
